Warminster
Write-up

— by Hillary Handy

Warminster loves autumn. With our corn fields and pumpkin patches, it is a holiday hallmark movie for the lovers of fall. But we are now dreaming of a beautiful, magical holiday season.

Halloween came and went, and the entire town was here for it. Friday night Trick or Treating was the best and no one would agree more than teachers! This year, everyone was done collecting candy by 7:30 p.m. as Blue Jays fans were home by 8 for the ongoing World Series games. We all cried the following day when our beloved Jays endured a heartbreaking loss. We shall continue to keep dreaming of that World Series title. The school hosted several Blue Jays theme days leading up to it and it was a joy to see all that team spirit as we were rooting for Canada’s team.

The annual Warminster Elementary School Holiday Vendor Market was a smashing success. Many thanks to Rebecca Harjupanula for spearheading this event. It was a wonderful time of community and connection. There were incredible vendors and artisans who had fantastic gift ideas. The Grade 8s were able to do some fundraising as well for their year-end trip by selling hot chocolate and sweets.

Progress continues on the XBHL facility on the corner of Warminster Sideroad and Highway 12. Players of all ages are eager to get out in the new space and play! Stay tuned for grand opening details.

School Council is preparing for more events in the new year. As a general rule, any community member may attend a School Council meeting. They will not have voting privileges but they are permitted to engage in this effort to support School initiatives.

The following dates are the remaining meetings, being held at the school library:

  • February 2, 2026 at 6 p.m.
  • April 13, 2026 at 6 p.m.
  • June 1, 2026 at 6 p.m.

There are loads of fun events happening at the school leading up to the Christmas holidays. Students will get to shop items for family members on December 16 with the in-school Holiday Shop! Every item will be $2, which is a great deal. The Holiday concert will happen on December 17 during the school day.

Lastly, as we enter into the holiday season, it’s important to note that Santa Claus is rolling into town on Saturday, December 13 at 2 p.m. There are still spaces available for businesses or individuals to participate with their floats. To register your float, email warminsterparade@gmail.com.

Have a very Merry Christmas, Warminster. See you in 2026!
