Community Hall Update

— by Rebecca Rodgers

In a world that often feels a bit too fast and disconnected, community still stands as one of the most meaningful foundations for our well-being. Time and again, research reminds us that strong communities help us feel like we belong, give us a shared sense of purpose, and encourage us to look out for one another. Whether it’s through family ties, friendly neighbours, or pitching in for a local cause, those connections help us grow empathy, strengthen democracy, and face challenges together. Community isn’t just a nice idea—it’s something we all need to build a healthier, happier society.

And what a phenomenal example we just witnessed! Congratulations to our incredible Canada Day team who made July 1st a celebration to remember. A huge thank you to our vendors, entertainers, silent auction donors, and all the floats and parade participants with a special shout-out to the 60 amazing kids on bikes who brought colour and joy to the streets. More thanks to the Lion’s Club for the ice cream truck (and generous donation), the Ukrainian dancers, business sponsors, and every good-spirited volunteer who made the day run so smoothly with grace and enthusiasm.

We were proud to welcome so many guests and share what makes Hawkestone so special.

And we’re not done yet! Summer at the Hall is just heating up.  Where else can you find Family Zumba, Yoga, NIA, Mindful Fitness, Pickleball, and Sound Journeys running right through July and August?! Looking ahead, fall will bring even more programs to meet the ever-evolving needs of our neighbours and our village.

Stay connected and be part of it all—follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or our website, or get on our email contact list at hawkestonehall@gmail.com.

Together, we’re building more than events—we’re building a stronger community.
