Coldwater Communique
— by Lois Rooney-Giurin
Spring is in the air! And Coldwater is revving up for its Spring/Summer fun!
First of all, though, we are sad to see the Dark Bazaar leave main street. In its place, the Crafty You Healing Sanctuary will offer a place for local crafters and artisans to showcase their goods.
March was very busy with March Break events all over town. On March 17, those of Irish (and honourary Irish) heritage enjoyed the St. Patrick’s Day Parade down Coldwater Road.
April at the Severn Library:
Award-winning local author Susan Wadds will be at the Library at 1 pm on March 29. We will learn about her book “What the Living Do”. Come on out and support a local, Canadian, author!
Another author will be at the Library on March 30. Robert Rotenberg, who was scheduled to visit in February, will be joining us at 1 pm. His latest book is “One Minute More”. Robert’s last book, “What We Buried” was the most-circulated book at our library in 2024. If you haven’t read his books, do! Set in Toronto, these are truly Canadian.
Also at the Library, beginning on April 5, Self Defense for Women will running for four Saturdays from 10 am to 12. You must be registered for this program and the cost is $100 per person.
For lovers of the Murdoch Mysteries, Maureen Jenning, author of the novels that inspired the series, will speak on April 20 at 1 pm. We are delighted to welcome this iconic author to our Library!
The BIA has some great things planned for the next few months:
April 19 is the annual “Eggstravaganza” Easter egg hunt, held at the Village Green. Bring your youngsters to this fun event!
May 18 and 19 is the Simcoe Forrester’s Re-enactment at the Coldwater Canadiana Museum.
The Lions Annual Duck Race will be held on May 31, along with an Open-Air Vendor Market at the Mill from 10:30 am to 3 pm. Come out and see what Coldwater can do!
Ongoing events in town include:
Singo Bingo at the Legion on the first Saturday of every month at 3 pm.
May to September on Tuesday nights, join the Coldwater Bike Night at the Coldwater Bowling Aley.
Finally, keep the upcoming Community Garage Sale in mind. It will be on June 7.
Enjoy your Spring as we watch the massive snowbanks finally melting.
