Warminster Write Up
by Hillary Handy
Summer feels like a distant memory now that we are back to school. It was a wonderful summer, indeed! Warminster Soccer was a smashing success. With a new executive team willing to lead the initiative, the transition from the previous team was seamless. Kids enjoyed meeting every Wednesday night at the Warminster Soccer Fields. It truly was a time of connection and community. To wrap up the season, players were given medals and enjoyed a BBQ evening at Hewitts Fun Farm. With loads of activities for all ages, it was a fantastic and fun night to close out the soccer season. As a parent of a player, I wish to extend my thanks to Hewitts Fun Farm and Market and the Hewitt family for their ongoing support of Warminster Soccer Club.
Speaking of Hewitts, although technically in Severn we claim it as our own, they celebrated their 15th Anniversary of the Fun Farm and Market! What an exciting time. There was a vendor market, BBQ, free entry to the fun farm for the first 50 people, and loads of sales in-store. Congratulations on this wonderful achievement for this staple in our community.
In school news, several of our students have transferred to Horseshoe Heights Public School due to the new boundary changes. While we’ll miss them dearly, we’re confident they’ll go on to do great and wonderful things in their new school community.

Students at Warminster Elementary returned with excitement for the first day of school, bringing fresh energy and enthusiasm to the halls. However, the start of the year was also bittersweet, as we said goodbye to our beloved principal, Natalie Edgar, who was reassigned for the September start. Over the past three years, Natalie led our school with compassion, kindness, and unwavering dedication. She was a fierce advocate for both students and staff, and her leadership will be deeply missed.
At the same time, we are pleased to extend a warm welcome to Alexa Barrie, who joins us from Lions Oval as our new principal. We look forward to the journey ahead under her leadership.
Students have already been training for Cross County and are gearing up for the Terry Fox Run in October. More team tryouts will be coming later in the fall.
School Council has some dreams up their sleeves for this coming school year. The first official meeting is October 6 at 6 p.m. This is open to any member of the community to attend. The Council will be hosting the annual Holiday Vendor Market on November 22, which is always a fun community event and one-stop shop for all your holiday gifting needs. There are some vendor spots still available at this time. If you are interested in selling your creative goods, send an email to warminstervendormarket@gmail.com.
We are eagerly awaiting the opening of Xposed Ball Hockey League location in Warminster. Construction resumed over the summer, and it is one step closer to opening. More information on that to come as it develops.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful season of Thanksgiving!
