Message from MPP Jill Dunlop

As the snow begins to melt and our communities look forward to the promise of spring, I’m reminded of the amazing seasonal changes that define Simcoe North, the kindness of neighbours, the pride in our communities through the many activities available, and the events that keep us connected throughout the year.

This past month, I had the honour of joining Acting Minister of Infrastructure Todd McCarthy right here in Orillia to announce a major provincial investment in our local water infrastructure. The Government of Ontario is providing an additional $700 million through the Health and Safety Water Stream of the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, helping 127 municipalities and First Nations communities upgrade and expand aging water and wastewater systems.

Across Simcoe North, this investment will support up to $78.4 million in five key projects, including upgrades to the Fittons Road West Sewage Pumping Station in Orillia and critical system improvements in Ramara, Tay Township, Penetanguishene, and Tiny. These upgrades mean safer, more reliable services for families and businesses alike, and they help unlock future housing and economic opportunities right here at home.

Closer to home, I am delighted to offer an opportunity for you all to get together for a fun activity this Family Day, where residents of all ages can enjoy a Free Family Day Skate at the Roller Skating Place at ODAS Park, a joyful way to celebrate the day with friends and family!

Looking ahead, I remain committed to working for you, ensuring our communities have the infrastructure, services, and opportunities needed to thrive.

Finally, I want to extend heartfelt congratulations to North Simcoe Life on 20 years in publication. For two decades, you’ve celebrated local voices, highlighted community achievements, and strengthened the fabric of our region. Thank you for your dedication and impact, here’s to many more years of service to North Simcoe.

LOOKING BACK!
