MPP for Simcoe North

As we move into the summer months, communities across Simcoe North continue to demonstrate the strong spirit of volunteerism, community connection, and support for seniors that make our region such a special place to call home.

June marks Seniors Month in Ontario, an opportunity to recognize the incredible contributions older adults make every day as mentors, caregivers, volunteers, and community builders. Across Simcoe North, local organizations, municipalities, and volunteers continue to create programs and services that help seniors remain active, connected, and supported close to home.

Our government also remains committed to helping seniors age with dignity and independence through programs supporting accessibility, housing improvements, and community engagement initiatives across Simcoe County.

June and July also bring many opportunities to celebrate community events, local tourism, and outdoor recreation throughout our riding. From waterfront festivals and local farmers’ markets to trails, museums, and community gatherings, summer is an important time to support local businesses and enjoy all that Simcoe North has to offer.

I would also like to invite residents of Simcoe North to save the date for my Annual Community BBQ being held this year at Hewitt’s Fun Farm in Severn on Sunday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free family event is open to everyone and will feature a community BBQ along with an opportunity to come together and celebrate the start of summer with friends, neighbours, and families from across Simcoe North.

This summer is also an important reminder of the value of neighbours helping neighbours. Whether through volunteer organizations, local service clubs, cultural events, or seniors’ programs, the people of Simcoe North continue to show what strong communities look like. I encourage residents to take time this season to support local initiatives, check in on neighbours and loved ones, and enjoy the many events happening throughout our communities. Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and enjoyable summer season.
