The Orillia Opera House continues to be a cornerstone of music and theatrical events in our area. Enjoy Duck Soup Production’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, or the summer professional theatre productions, until the end of August. Kevin Gangloff of the Orillia Youth Centre loves to organize concerts and showcase his favourite musicians. He has another mini-series of concerts coming up in September and October, featuring The Sadies, Terra Lightfoot, Lenny Lashley, Kevin Seconds, Nixon Boyd, Danny Michel, and Roger Harvey. The Port of Orillia has a number of fun events for boaters and the community, coming up. August 8, it’s the Waterfront Festival with tons of vendors, music and fun. And Labour Day weekend, come out for the now-famous Pirate Party, with re-enactments, pirates, walking the plank, vendors, food, and lots of costumes. Find out more at www.orillia.com.

The Big Event has brought back FREE Movies in the Park at the Rotary Aquatheatre in Couchiching Beach Park, this August and September, thanks to a number of sponsors. For all the dates and all the movies, click here.

Civic Holiday weekend, August 1-4, the Great Benjamins Circus is coming to Orillia…more specifically, ODAS Park. Find out all about it and get your tickets, here.

Or, head south to Barrie for Kempenfest on Civic Holiday weekend…featuring tons of vendors, food, drink, and MUSIC, including Shawn Desman, Colin James, The Washboard Union, and Practically Hip, plus tons more. For more information, go here.

August 22-24, don’t miss the Orillia Rib and Beer Fest at Tudhope Park in Orillia. The festival is free, the ribs are not…but enjoy! More information here.

September 20, don’t miss the Sunshine City Vintage Bazaar and Market next to Lone Wolf Café on Matchedash St. South. Tons of great vintage vendors selling all things vintage, from 10 am to 4 pm. Check it out!

August 2, Yours to Uncover: An Ontario Road Trip opens at the Orillia Museum of Art and History. Come and see this wonderful and new way to look at the everyday objects from our holidays!

Of course, we can’t forget our Fall Fairs! The Oro World’s Fair is happening September 12 and 13, the Coldwater Fall Fair is September 26-28 and the Orillia Fall Fair is October 5-7. You should just go to all of them, they are amazing, and a great way to stay in touch with our rural roots!
