The Orillia & District Literacy Council (ODLC) is having a special fundraiser, Blingo Night Out on Oct. 19. This enjoyable evening is being held at the Hub Atrium, 250 West St. N., Orillia, from 6 to 10 p.m. to raise much-needed funding in support of literacy in Orillia and surrounding area.

Tiffany Gordon-Paterson, executive director of the ODLC, said, “We are so excited about Blingo Night Out and are looking forward to a very fun and ‘blingy’ event to celebrate together and raise funds for this wonderful cause.”

Ms. Gordon-Paterson continued, “The ODLC wanted to do something really different and engaging this year to raise the profile of the charity and let the community know that we are ready for big things this year and for our future to come.”

Blingo Night Out is a gala event featuring dinner, a mini fall fashion show, ‘Blingo’ game, marketplace, silent auction, prizes, and music, hosted by DJ Wilverine from 89.1 Max FM.

The ODLC is a local, non-profit, charitable organization supported by the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada as well as independent donors. The ODLC assists adults in improving their reading, writing, math, language, computer, and life skills to better cope with everyday life, to reach their goals, and to improve their chances of success in the community. The ODLC is always looking for volunteers, tutors, and new learners to participate in council programs and events.
