Images Thanksgiving Studio Tour 2024
—by Sylvia Stark — Oro-Medonte Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Executive Director
As the autumn leaves paint the Township of Oro-Medonte in rich shades of crimson and gold, the Oro-Medonte Chamber of Commerce and Tourism invites you to come visit this picturesque region on Thanksgiving Weekend, October 11 to 14. Oro-Medonte is located just one-and-a-half hours north of Toronto.
It is the time of year to immerse yourself in the creativity of local artists during the Images Thanksgiving Studio Tour 2024. This is the longest-running art tour in Ontario, in its 41st year. This year, you can discover a diverse array of 30 local artists. Their studios and guests’ locations will be open between 10 am to 5 pm each day, Friday to Monday of that weekend.
Explore an array of artistic expressions including stunning glass sculptures, captivating paintings, exquisite pottery, breathtaking photography, intricate jewelry designs, innovative wood burning and steel sculptures, wood turned items, fashion designs and ceramic masterpieces. All locations are nestled throughout the winding roads and hills of beautiful Oro-Medonte.
In April 2024 the art world encountered a significant loss when talented landscape artist Dave Beckett passed away. His work has brought joy and inspiration to many. His son Todd and family are reopening his art studio for this year’s tour to keep his legacy alive and allow others to appreciate his talent.
It’s heartwarming to see artists come together for a cause, especially during their own challenging times. Artist Alain Amar’s studio is located in an old-fashioned barn. He looks forward to welcoming you to experience his art and support the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, a meaningful way to give back.
Whether you’re a seasoned art lover or just looking for a weekend getaway with a fantastic art tour as a bonus, Oro-Medonte promises a memorable experience filled with beauty, inspiration, and community.
