Hawkestone Community Hall
— by Rebecca Rodgers
At Hawkestone Community Hall, community continues to thrive when neighbours come together. This spirit was on full display at our Canada Day celebration, which was a tremendous success despite record-breaking heat. The day featured 27 parade entries, 16 marketplace vendors, a bustling Community BBQ, Kids’ Zone activities, live music, a Silent Auction, the new Legacy Board signed by over 350 community members, and an evening potluck that brought neighbours together for food, music, and fellowship. More importantly, the event showcased the strength, generosity, and pride of our community, supported by at least 25 volunteers, countless sponsors and partners, and a shared commitment to creating memorable experiences for all.
A special thank you goes to Canada Day Chair Linda Argent, Parade Master John Wilmot, and the many volunteers whose time, energy, and enthusiasm made the celebration possible.
As we look ahead to fall, Hawkestone Hall will once again be buzzing with activity. Our diverse programs include a choice of yoga classes, NIA-inspired movement, Tai Chi and Qigong, the Thursday Afternoon Social, Hawkestone Singers choir, and Pipe Band rehearsals, along with periodic offerings such as Sound Journeys, Sacred Dance, Euchre nights, and more. To learn about upcoming programs and events, follow us on Facebook, visit hawkestone.org, join our email list at hawkestonehall@gmail.com, and read this column!
Whether celebrating together, learning something new, or simply sharing a conversation with a neighbour, Hawkestone Hall remains a place where community connections grow stronger every day.
