Coldwater Communique

by Lois Rooney-Giurin

Hello Folks!

I usually write a laundry list of upcoming events, but by the time you read this, most of the events will have already taken place.

There are two taking place in December that I will note. The first is the Lions Club Santa Claus Parade, downtown Coldwater, on December 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

There is also the annual New Years’ Eve Lions Club Free Family Skate and Fireworks, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. on December 31.

If you love the Fairy Garden, please consider making a donation. Chelsea at Coldwater Thrift and Collectibles is the person to see.

The Library has one event coming up in December. On December 13 at 1 pm, there will be a small book fair for children’s books. Local authors will be there to present and sell their books. This is a good opportunity for some meaningful, last-minute presents for the little ones in your life.

Please note, the Library is now open on Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m. This is a new thing, and great if you can’t get in during the day. They also have free passes for the Royal Ontario Museum, Ontario Parks, and the Wye Marsh, available with your membership to the Library.

During this holiday season, please remember the Coldwater Foodbank at the United Church, and the Caring Closet at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian. Both offer love and assistance if you need it. St. Andrew’s also offers free lunch on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A great place for a meal and some company!

Saturday, December 13, is the annual Free Community Christmas Dinner at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. There will be two sittings: 5 and 6:15 p.m. Please reserve your spot by calling the church at 705-686-3648, or by sending an email to st.andrews.coldwater@gmail.com. Be sure to leave name, phone number and the sitting you’d like, and how many will be coming.

Coldwater United Church will be presenting a concert on Sunday, December 21 at 7 p.m. entitled
“Christmas All Year Long”. A freewill offering will be accepted.

Don’t forget about their Christmas Eve services. Always a wonderful way to enter Christmas gently.

And a final Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from me!
