Pickleball! Pickleball!! Pickleball!!!

All you ever hear about is the unbelievable explosive popularity of a sport that none of us had even heard about a few years ago.

The game is described as a cross between tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. The reasons for its popularity are: it is easy to learn, very affordable, available everywhere, and most importantly, it is an enjoyable, social sport.  You don’t need a partner, or a foursome, or a reservation, and you can drop in to play twelve months of the year.

In Orillia, Pickleball has taken off, with popularity beyond anyone’s expectations.  The challenge is the limited places to play.

Enter:  The Orillia Pickleball Club!

The Club was formed to work with the City of Orillia to develop a First Class facility, built to Pickleball Ontario and Pickleball Canada specifications, that enables everyone to play, improve, and allow Orillia to host tournaments that bring a substantial economic boost to the City.

The appeal of such an investment is that it will enable children, adults, and retirees, of all fitness levels, and physical capabilities, to learn a new sport, become better at it, while being surrounded by like-minded fitness enthusiasts. Present athletes often play to augment their skills in other sports, non-athletes play to start, or restart, their exercise regime, but everyone enjoys the comradery at the courts.

August 15 is the date the Orillia Pickleball Club will be open to accepting sponsorships, tax-deductible donations, and memberships.  The website will be launched on that date as well.

The grand opening will be the weekend of September 14/15, and Orillia will be well on its way to becoming:

The Sunshine City of Pickleball Excellence!
