Carley Hamlet Updates
—by Kelly Skinner-Meyer
The Carley Hall has had a few family gatherings this summer and so far, it has been a wonderful summer. A wee bit wet perhaps and a delay with the hay, but greenery abounds. My gardens are flourishing.
A couple of our volunteers improved our outdoor sign and it’s ready for our fall postings.
The Hall Board is hoping to have an Open House and an Old-Fashioned Hall Social to meet and greet new and old neighbours. This is the time to reach out to our community. It’s also an opportunity for people to volunteer for some of our fundraising events or use the Hall for an event or program. We’re looking at the first weekend in October, we will keep you posted on date and time.
The Warminster Side Road between the 9th and 8th is still waiting for road improvements. Hopefully this will be completed before the snow flies.
My summer has been full of adventures with our grandson. It’s interesting trying to plan adventures for a four-year-old, finding something educational and fun. To all the grandparents watching their grandchildren this summer here are some adventures we have done you might like to consider.
Our first adventure was fossil hunting at Craigleith Provincial Park, learning about trilobites and the history of this amazing shale beach. The second adventure was fishing in Lake Simcoe with catch and release. The first and only catch was a yellow bellied perch, very exciting for a four-year-old. The third adventure the Elmvale Zoo, learning about animals.
Our favourites were the giraffes, monkeys and lions.
The fourth adventure was Lock 42 Big Chute, to explain the locks and watch the boats. I think the ice cream was the favourite. So what’s our next adventure…hmmm?
Get out the map and pick a spot!
Enjoy the summer everyone, we’re having a blast.
