Warminster Write-up

— by Hillary Handy

The end of 2025 was a sweet one.

Students at Warminster Elementary School enjoyed the final weeks of school. The holiday concert was fantastic. Students performed an assortment of holiday tunes bringing joy to family members in the audience. Students were able to shop the Holiday Store where all items were $2 and students were able to score some awesome gifts for their family members. Many thanks to School Council for helping with this initiative. Wrapping up the last week of school, students enjoyed a holiday dance party and lots of themed activities and festivities. It is always an exciting time as the end of the year winds down, but Christmas and holiday fun amps it up!

A crew of dedicated volunteers have been working on getting the rink set up at Danny McHugh Park, beside the Fire Station, but the weather has not been cooperating for great ice. Hopefully things will settle down soon allowing us to get some skating in. Volunteers make the world go around and we thank you for your dedication.

The annual Santa Claus Parade was a smashing success. No wind or snow could keep Santa away. It was a fantastic celebration of our community and a wonderful effort. Many thanks to the volunteers who organized the event, particularly the Durocher Family!

It has been incredibly encouraging to see the strong sense of community alive and well in Warminster. Nothing demonstrates this more than the ongoing efforts to help one another with snow removal. Parts of this winter have felt relentless, requiring significant snowplowing support. Time and again, when neighbours have reached out for help, the community has stepped up to clear snow for friends and neighbours alike. We are truly blessed to live here.

Looking ahead at the new year, we know that 2026 will bring loads of fun!

Rumblings say the highly anticipated XBHL will open on the corner of Hwy 12 and Warminster Side Road this spring. Stay tuned for more details on this as they become available. We are so excited for this addition to our community and the fun it will bring to all ages.

Warminster Soccer Club will be opening registration for the 2026 season shortly. Be sure to check dates for sign up via warminstersoccerclub.ca or follow along on Facebook via Warminster Soccer Club.

School Council is working on the end of the year Community Fun Fair happening on June 4, 2026. June 5th is the PA Day following the event. Mark this date on your calendars. At this time, if any community members or small businesses have any donations for the Silent Auction, we would greatly appreciate it. Connect with me via email: hillaryhandy@gmail.com.

Grade 8 students continue their fundraising initiatives to support the end of the year graduation trip! They hosted a bottle drive over the holidays and will be doing other events to continue their efforts. Follow along on Facebook through What’s Up Warminster to see ways you can help!

Several other fun things are in the works at Warminster Elementary School, but I will share those details as we get closer to the events. Stay tuned!

Cheers to 2026! May it bring Warminster some wonderful and exciting things.
