Editorial by Anna Proctor

It is easy to get down and discouraged by all the bad news these days…and it all seems to be bad. Don’t get me wrong, we need to read and understand what’s happening in the world, and do our part to make it better, as much as we are able. But immersing ourselves in bad news every day comes at a cost, to our mental and physical health.

So, come into our virtual pages and get into what’s good in our area, instead!

It’s summertime, we’ve been waiting all year for this. Our pages are full of summer fun, summer memories, a summer contest, and loads more…so dive in, and bring it on!

These days, I am all about seizing the day. We won’t ever get this day again, so don’t waste it. If you possible can, get out and enjoy the beauty all around us, and spend time in this loveliness with family and friends. That’s what summer’s all about.

We had a blast at Mariposa Folk Festival, loved the first offering of the Orillia Opera House summer theatre, have already been out to King’s Wharf and are looking forward to going again, partook in a free Sunday evening band concert and a movie in the park, and are off to Woodfolk Cidery and a local park to hang with friends, this weekend. Lots more plans for the rest of the summer!

Please let us know what your favourite story in this issue is, and be entered to win a $100 Downtown Orillia gift card, thanks to our good friends and partners, Orillia Lake Country Tourism.

See you out and about in this wonderful time and place!
