Warminster Write-up

The Spring Vendor Market hosted at the school was a smashing success! There were so many incredible vendors on site with the perfect Mother’s Day giftings. Many thanks to Rebecca Harjupanula for taking the lead on this event. It was a wonderful time of community, connection and shopping.

Students have been enjoying the warmer weather and been able to go on several field trips. The Grade 5s went to Black River Wilderness Park and enjoyed some outdoor learning and Indigenous ways of knowing.

The Green Team worked hard all year supporting several environmental initiatives at Warminster, such as using GOOS paper (Good On One Side), promoting litterless lunches, doing school and community clean-ups and working on the school gardens. Well done to this team for focusing on ways to support our Earth.

The Warminster Soccer Club is up and running. With new executive members taking the torch from last year’s group, we are excited for the fun this summer will bring. Soccer is so special because it brings our whole community together every Wednesday night. It’s great to connect with neighbours and watch our youth learn about the importance of teamwork.

School Council hosted a Parent Social Night where families were able to connect and participate in a workshop about social media safety and AI. It was very informative and helpful as we navigate the online domain with our children. Many thanks to Emily Baillie for sharing her wisdom, as well as PC Williams and Officer Dorian of the OPP. It was beneficial to learn about the legal implications social media can have on even our youngest of children in this digital age.

School Council is also gearing up for the annual Community BBQ and Silent Auction happening on Thursday, June 5th. Friday June 6th is the PA Day, so the kids are excited to go full tilt at the event. This is for anyone to attend and is Warminster Elementary School’s biggest fundraiser and FUN-raiser for the year.

One of our local students, Emily Horne, is headed to Burgos, Spain for the World Dance Cup 2025. Her dance team is headed there July 2 to 13. The team has been practicing like crazy, while raising funds to offset the cost of their trip with Pancake Supper and Silent Auction events. The cost for each dancer to attend is approximately $6,200 and the team is still seeking support from the community.

GOOD LUCK EMILY! We look forward to hearing about your adventures when you return.

Construction has resumed at XBHL Ball Hockey pad and facility on the corner of Warminster Side Road and Hwy 12. Everyone is super excited for this recreational opportunity in the community.

More to come as it happens in Warminster!
