Planning Your Next Vacation? Support Backyard Tourism in Orillia & Lake Country
At this time five years ago, the tourism industry had come to a stand still and we couldn’t do what we love best: inviting people to come explore the wonderful locales of Orillia & Lake Country. We encouraged people to shop and support local, pay it forward and return when safe to do so. In the following years, as things opened up again in stages, our region offered respite for locals to discover their own backyard. Outdoor adventure, from trails to waterways, have always offered unique and creative getaways and experiences, and our operators pivoted to open safely, having since returned to classic tourism numbers.
Today, our industry finds itself with similar anxieties for our small businesses, but this time we can confidently welcome visitors to our region, where your visit directly helps our operators continue to do what they love. As Canadians look to travel inside our borders this summer and invest in local, we encourage you to remember that ‘backyard tourism’ instinct and rediscover the beauty of the region we all have chosen to live, work, and play. We continue to welcome our international visitors and showcase the beauty of Central Ontario as the cross-section connecting to the province’s urban cultural centres, to the natural beauty of Ontario’s North.
