Hike for Hospice Returns May 3rd
Walking Together
for Compassionate Care
Steps of Compassion. Community Strong.
Each spring, our community comes together to take meaningful steps in support of local hospice care. On Sunday, May 3rd, we invite you to lace up your shoes and join us for the 2026 Hike for Hospice — a day to walk together in honour, in memory, and in hope.
The hike will take place at Barnfield Point Recreation Centre in Tudhope Park, with hiker check-in beginning at 10:30 AM. Participants will enjoy a beautiful lakeside route while sharing in the spirit of togetherness, reflection, and compassion that this event represents.
Every dollar raised supports Hospice Orillia, our community hospice, and Mariposa House Hospice, our residential hospice, helping ensure that individuals and families in the Couchiching region receive compassionate care and support when they need it most. From grief and bereavement programs and in-home support to the comfort and dignity provided within Mariposa House, these services exist because of the generosity of our community.
Last year, our incredible community helped raise over $80,000, surpassing the original goal of $60,000. This year, we are setting our sights on $65,000, and once again we know that when our community comes together, amazing things can happen.
Walking with Purpose
For many people, the Hike for Hospice is about much more than a walk. It’s an opportunity to remember loved ones, honour their journeys, and show support for families who are currently walking their own path with hospice care.
Many participants walk in memory of someone special. If you would like to include a loved one’s name in this year’s memorial artwork, submissions are open until April 5th. Each name shared is a story, a connection, and a reminder of why this event means so much to so many.
Registration is now open at: nsmhpcn.ca/H4H26
Individuals, families, workplaces, and community groups are all encouraged to register and form teams. Whether you walk the 2.5 km route or challenge yourself with the 5 km loop, every step helps support compassionate care in our community.
